The full title of this book is Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your Mind. I bought it during a particularly difficult time in my life, where, frankly, my faith was not at its highest point and some of life's challenges seemed to be kicking me pretty hard in the backside. My husband and I often watched Joyce Meyer's television show in the mornings and it really inspired us, so, when she spoke on the topic of learning how to battle a negative thought life and attitude, we both knew we had to get the book she'd penned on it. In Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your Mind, Meyer addresses such issues as anger, anxiety, depression, fear and doubt, all concerns of mine at that time. Among the things I like most about this book is that she explains everything in very relatable terms, applying the Bible in practical ways that aren't in "spiritual babble" and everything is easy to understand. Meyer is also never condescending and describes her own personal struggles, so I don't feel as though she is looking down on me, as though she is spiritually superior. My husband and I read Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your Mind together and, by the time we reached the end of it, we felt really helped in getting our faith more properly balanced. We keep it as a reference, for those occasions we experience new challenges, to help us keep a positive view.
