"You may not believe it, but here's how it happened..."
Because a Little Bug went Ka-CHOO! is my all-time favourite children's book. In a very fun, rhyming way (very reminicent of Dr. Suess), this story follows the unfortunate and hilarious series of events that happen all because a little bug sneezed, causing a little seed to drop from a plant.
This book is from the Beginner Books "I Can Read it All by Myself" series, and lives up to it's genre by being a very easy read. In fact, the sentence structure remains the same throughout most of the story. Each page simply introduces a couple new words to the pattern. Here's a sample:
"Because that seed dropped,
a worm got hit.
Because he got hit,
that worm got mad.
Because he got mad..."
This book is great for beginning readers, but is also very suitible for younger children if read aloud. Believe me, they'll love it! I went from reading this book as a new reader, to reading it to my little siblings as an older child, to reading it to the children I babysat as a teen, and today I still love it. Actually, when I moved out of my parent's house permanently, I brought it with me, even though it had long before been memorized!
The great rhymes, funny story, and comical illustrations make this book a must-have on your child's bookshelf.
