Before the Devil Knows You're Dead directed by Sidney Lemet (Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon) stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei and Albert Finney. It’s the story of two brothers that decide to commit a “victimless crime” as one brother calls it. This victimless crime begins to take on a life of its own as the victims begin to pile up.
Hoffman and Hawke play the brothers who are in desperate need of money. Hoffman is a successful real estate agent with a serious drug habit and Hawke is just trying to get ahead in life and pay his child support. The victimless crime soon takes over their lives as they try to figure out how to untangle them selves from what they’ve done and the mess they’ve made of their lives.
This movie flips back and forth but not in a confusing manner. I am not sure why it’s filmed this way but overall a good movie that is rated R for strong graphic sexuality, nudity, violence, drug use and language. This is not a movie for children.
