My family moved two years ago cross country from South Carolina to Northern California. It was a very long and scenic drive through I-40. We stopped at many hotels, but the best one by far was the Holiday Inn Express in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The Holiday Inn in Flagstaff just seemed to have that perfect location to truly, truly relax in between traveling days. It is situated off of a main exit, but you have an excellent view of the wonderful, green foothills in Flagstaff. It only takes 10 minutes to get to downtown Flagstaff which is full of exciting shopping areas and children's activities. Also, if you need to get some extra groceries, the stores are only a few blocks away. The most important part of this location is that you are only an hour away from the Grand Canyon area!
What I enjoyed most about the Holiday Inn Express were two amenities: the pool and the breakfast. The pool was an indoor/outdoor pool. It gets breezy in Flagstaff so having the protection from the wind is a bonus. We even swam at night! There is also a warm jacuzzi outdoors so you can still enjoy the mountain air while relaxing those driving muscles.
As for the breakfast, it is almost indescribable the options available beyond a bowl of Rice Krispies. There were boiled eggs, toast, hot tea, coffee, and the best cinnamon rolls a man could ever want! They were hot, sticky, and completely included with the stay.
We loved this hotel so much we stayed an extra day. The staff was extremely courteous and the amenities couldn't get any better for the price. If you ever travel through Flagstaff, stay at the Holiday Inn Express!
