We turned our dining room into a small bar after our children went off to college. In doing so we needed to find both a wine cooler and a beverage cooler for beer and soda. We visited our local Home Depot and found exactly what we needed at what we thought was a very reasonable price. The Magic Chef Wine Cooler and the Magic Chef Beverage Cooler were perfect for our needs. The Coolers are counter height and vented in the front to allow you to place them just about anywhere. They are silver in color with black glass fronts which makes them extremely good looking. Since our house is pretty modern the silver and black worked great.
The Beverage Cooler has a 5.8 cubic foot interior with three glass shelves which fit into grooves on the sides of the cooler. These shelves are adjustable to enable you to fit bottles of beer as well as canned beer and soda cans. There is a LCD thermometer at the top of the cooler which is visible through the glass door. This enables you to see the temperature and adjust it if necessary using the temperature control up and down arrows. The temperature control can be a little temperamental but it still does a great job of keeping cold beverages on hand.
The Wine Cooler has five wine racks which hold 8 bottles each with the necks of the wine bottles alternating from front to back. These five racks are adjustable. The bottom rack consists of two levels each holding 6 bottles in the neck front facing position. This also contains an LCD thermometer which is adjustable and visible through the glass door.
Both coolers have a 15Watt interior light to enable you to see the beverages in the cooler. Both coolers have a 1 year warranty on parts and a 5 year warranty on the compressor.
We have these mounted under a black laminate countertop and they look wonderful. I would recommend these coolers to anyone who wants a home bar without spending a lot of money.
