Big Red Barn, written by Margaret Wise Brown, has been a favorite of children for years. It tells of a day on a farm where all the animals play and makes noises all day long, then go to the big red barn to go to sleep at night.
My daughter has liked this book since she was about 18 months old. At 2 years, she can now follow along and name animals and imitate their noises. She also likes to search for the little hidden butterfly that is on nearly every page.
This is a delightful story, with beautiful illustrations by Felicia Bond. The text rhymes, but not in a bouncy rhythym, so it is soothing and nice to read just before bedtime.
We have the board book version and it has held up well. I highly recommend this book for your little one.
