My ex-husband recently bought a pool table from a friend of his. It came with the basic equipment but the balls were stained from chalk and the wooden rack was broken. Since I have a table too, he asked me where the closest store was that he could buy some replacement parts. I went to Walmart that afternoon and found the perfect kit for him. They carry a set by Sportcraft called the Billiard Starter Set. It contains a full set of professional style balls, a wooden 8 ball rack, a deluxe repair kit and tip scuffers. The best part is that it sells for only $34.96.
One of my cue sticks had a broken tip from my son dropping it on the floor so I asked him if it was OK to test his repair kit out. Removing the old tip wasn't too hard but the old glue left behind was. The sandpaper that was included on the kit and the sanding block did a great job getting rid of all the left over residue. The repair kit comes with new tips and tip cement so we had everything we needed to fix it. The instructions on the tip cement say allow it to dry but do not say how long drying takes. We left it overnight and it that seemed to be plenty of time.
I have been to his house and played using the balls and the rack included in this set. I am no professional but I do not see any difference in the quality and play in the balls and rack from this set then I do in my set which was way more expensive from the billiard dealer. The set comes with a mesh pouch to store all the little parts like the scuffers and the tips which is great or he would have surely lost some of them by now.
If you are looking for a billiard starter kit or even just some replacement billiard balls this is a great set at a price that is way below what you would pay at a regular billiard supply or recreation store and you get the bonus of the repair kit and extra chalk too.
