Around this house, we host a lot of gatherings. Most parties involve a main course of some type of meat that must be cut. For years we depended on a large knife to tackle the task of slicing our main entrees. Knives are fickle and require sharpening. If they are serrated, they don't need sharpening but they mutilate an otherwise perfect piece of meat. Also, using a standard knife, by the time the meat is cut and ready to serve it has cooled to room temperature. To avoid mutilation, sharpening, and speed up serving times we sought out an electric knife. We purchased a Black & Decker Electric Knife.
I love this knife. It is mid range on price. The warranty is standard at a year. The operation is simple, you insert the blades, plug in the unit, pull the trigger and cut. A nice feature to mention here is the cord has a generous length. If you are using all your outlets, limited on counter space, you can plug it in a little further from your workspace and still get the job done.
Now we are able to slice a turkey to perfection in a quarter of the time it used to take. Briskets, roasts, and chickens are a breeze. I especially love the fact that we can slice the cuts thinner than before--this works well for leftover sandwich making.
My only complaint is the location of the blade release buttons. I have had an occasion, during my slicing frenzy, that I accidentally grabbed the knife at the release switch and the blades popped out during cutting. I've learned not to do that.
The knife is easy to clean. The blades are dishwasher safe. The unit wipes clean easily.
For the price, convenience, and usability, I highly recommend this electric knife by Black & Decker.
