When I started this book I was unsure what to expect, but I was soon hooked! It wasn't the storyline that kept me reading on and on, or the very three dimensional characters, but more because of Kevin Brooks addictive writing style. It is the first novel of Kevin Brooks I have read but I can assure you its not going to be the last! There wasn't a dull moment in this book and always kept you wondering what going to happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone! It has been such an enjoyable read, the only criticism I have would be the cover art lets the book down because it makes it look like more of a children book and in my opinion I think it is suitable for an older audience too, and because this book was so interesting you'd think they could come up with a better front cover! This book is about a fifteen year old boy called Pete, who reunites with some old friends. They go down to the local fair and well, that's where the story really begins.. Theres Raymond.. Strange, nervous, obsessive but kind. Pauly.. The joker, immature, desperate to fit in Eric.. Quiet, keeps to himself. Nicole.. Energetic, fun-loving, and then theres Pete hes in an awkward stage in his life, just stuck right in the middle. Its an aggressive thriller that'll keep you hooked from the first page.
