It's safe to say that I'm obsessed with lip balm. Every time I see something new, I have to try it out, which probably explains the tons of tubes and tins lying around in my room.

I was actually looking for a different kind of lip balm, when I came across this one. The packaging looked nice, with luxurious-looking gray silk and dark purple lettering. Blistex Silk & Shine....with real silk extracts? That part got me interested, and I decided to try it out. For $2.29, it was also easy on the wallet.

The balm comes in a tube almost identical to the Nivea products, which are round and kind of wide. It's a sort of pearly gray color, with a long cap. When I first swiveled it up, I was surprised to see a thin film of...were they bubbles? Regardless, it was an instant turn-off. I wiped the film off with my finger and it was fine, though I'm still confused as to what it was.

Usually, lip balms taste similar to how they smell. This was not the case. When I smelled it, the balm was a nice, fruity smell - strawberry and citrus, mostly. But when I got some in my mouth (which is inevitable with lip balms). Well, not so fruity and nice. The bitterness didn't go away for a while, and there's really no way to avoid getting lip balm in your mouth.

The glide was nice and smooth, not waxy at all. I wish it would've been a little more buttery, but it's good enough. The balm doesn't dry on my lips and goes on easily. Without rubbing my lips together or eating/drinking, it lasted a little over an hour.

Nothing about this lip balm is really spectacular, and the taste and lasting power were not as nice as I expected. It's an average balm, but next time I'll skip on this one.
