To everyone out there that does not know what "Blue-ray" technology is, in relationship to DVDs, it equates to "reach out and touch it".
If you purchase a "Blue-ray" DVD player and have a HD TV to hook this player up to, it will ask the question, "Is it live, or is it Memorex"? The picture quality and resolution from the Blue-ray DVDs will astound you.
The next time you are shopping a store that sells HD theater equipment, check out one of the displays they have, hooked up to a Blue-ray DVD player. This is as close as it gets to visual quality on a HD TV. The sound and picture is amazing.
More and more movies and video games are being rewritten and released with Blue-ray technology, as I write this.
We bought the Sony BDP-S500 Blue-ray Disc Player, because of a few audio features most of the other players on the market don't have. This player reads most of the audio formats available, then reconstructs this into a better HD surround audio signal.
I have a Sony HD TV and we love it. This BDP-S500, Blue-ray Disc Player from Sony is the perfect companion.
The disc player play DVD+/-R/RW, MP3, and JPEG formats. The resolution is very high, at 1080p. It might be the clearest, sharpest picture available. The audio multi channel decoders gives you sound almost as clear as the video.
It is a killer system. I honestly don't know how the technology can improve any more than Blue-ray.
