About a month ago, as I was scouring my usual coupon & free sample website, I came across an opportunity to try a new type of Bounce dryer sheets. Never one to pass up a free sample (particularly after joining Shared Reviews!), I filled in my mailing address and waited.

The sample I received was of Bounce Awakenings. They are a new dryer sheet from Bounce which comes in two new scents that are supposed to last longer and be renewed throughout the day as you wear your clothes. They are "infused" with patented "Renew-Refresh" beads that, supposedly, lock freshness into your clothes and release it slowly.

Well, I had a box of the regular Bounce sheets on hand, so I decided to perform a (highly scientific) sniff-test.

I washed two loads of laundry and dried one with Bounce Awakenings and the other with regular Bounce. I noticed that the Bounce Awakenings sheets are about 1 1/2 the size of the regular sheets, and that the Renew-Refresh beads are clearly visible. Out of the package, the Awakenings sheets smelled stronger, and I really liked the new scent. Upon opening the dryer, I could smell the Awakenings load stonger than the regular. After that, however, the results were the same. In my opinion, the Awakenings load did not hold its scent any longer than the regular load, nor did my clothing release any more scent as I wore them throughout the day. I had been curious about this product, so I was sort of disappointed with the results.

These sheets still get a high rating from me because they do fulfill what I am looking for in a dryer sheet. They keep clothes soft, smelling fresh, and static-free. Also the new scent I tried (Renewing Rain), smells really good. However, if I buy these again, it will be because I like the scent, and not because it lasts longer. I will have to decide if the $1-2 extra per box is worth it.
