It seems I'm always looking for more storage space in my house. With many extra blankets and pillows that rarely get used, yet for some reason, can't be thrown out, I needed help. I found it with my simple trash bags. I've seen the space bags on tv and liked the idea a lot, but didn't want to spend the money. Then I saw a demonstration on PBS about the same procedure using trash bags. It seemed way too easy to be true. So, with help from my husband, we gave it a try.. We put 3 queen size blankets inside a yard trash bag, gathered the top of the bag and held it in one hand and inserted the vacuum hose through the opening and between two of the blankets. As soon as the vaccum was turned on, the bag began to shrink. A LOT. It was fun to watch as those bulky blankets shrunk down to practically nothing! Once we had it done, we carefully pulled the hose out and quickly closed the top of the bag. Then we twisted the top of the bag and secured it with the ties from the bag, but anything could be used. It was so much fun that I couldn't wait to do the same with pillows and other bulky items. It's fast, easy and best of all, cheap! When you want to use the items, just open the bag and a few minutes later, everything pops back to it's normal size. Because the bags are dark, it's a good idea to mark them so you know what's inside without opening. Have fun!!
