In my opinion this was the best album of the year for 2010. Although the metalcore style of music may not suit many, this album had it all.
Four out of the twelve tracks off of this album, "Breaker's Origin, " "Breaker's Valley, " "Breaker's Encounter, " and Breaker's Commission, " are comprised of a poem called "The Breaker, " written specifically for this album, being read over light drums and melodic guitars that anyone can find moving.
The rest of the album consists of everything to abrasive guitars and screams to harmonic singing and beautiful melodies. This album keeps the listener on his or her toes with the emotion emitted from the music.
The lyrics on the other hand are also extremely well crafted. They are all based loosely around the poem in the other four tracks, and based completely off of the Bible. That is right, this whole album is about God. The dark nature of this genre fits perfectly as they sing about how their Savior will reclaim this world through war. Even though this album is religious in nature it can also be enjoyable to the nonreligious as the quality of the music alone can stand on its own.
The production quality is phenomenal and you can tell you are hearing exactly what the band wanted you to hear. The only downside is I wish there was more, as the total time of the album is only 35.2 minutes, but so much amazing music is packed into that timeframe that it certainly does not decrease the albums value. As CD purchases are becoming fewer and fewer, this one will definitely not be a waste of time or money.
