My mom bought this coffeemaker a few weeks ago, and I got to use it when the family all got together for the holidays. Now I am not a big coffee drinker, but this unit makes hot chocolate, too, so it truly offers something for everyone.

The idea for this single-cup coffeemaker is simple. You buy individually packaged containers (which are called "K-cups) of coffee, tea or other drinks like hot cocoa. Then you can make an individual serving of your favorite hot drink or quickly offer a selection of different drinks to guests without having to wait on a single coffeemaker or use multiple brewers and create a lot of dirty dishes.

This is a coffee brewer that makes coffee almost instantly. All you have to do to use it is plug it in, fill the reservoir with water, select what kind of coffee, tea, or other hot drink you want to have and put the K-cup in the coffeemaker, choose the size of your cup, and push the "Brew" button. There's no measuring or wondering how many servings a pot will make. I had my hot cocoa in less than a minute. The LCD display is big enough to see and there are only a few buttons so you aren't confused when trying to figure out how to operate it.

You can choose from four different sizes depending on your coffee mug: 5.25 oz., 7.25 oz., 9.25 oz., or 11.25 oz. The coffeemaker has a digital clock and a programmable timer so you can set it to make your coffee when you get up in the morning. I'm not sure why you would if you were using the K-cups because it really is instant coffee/tea/cocoa.

The Keurig brewer has a stainless steel exterior, and the reservoir holds 64 oz. of water. It also has a charcoal filter to filter your water before brewing. You also don't have to use the K-cup adapter and can use regular coffee grounds instead. A free box of 22 K-cups came with the coffeemaker, so we used them. If you were to purchase additional K-cups, Green Mountain sells 24-cup refill packs ranging in price from $11.95-$14.95.

This brewer came with a 30-day risk-free trial, but I know my mom isn't sending it back! Green Mountain also ships their brewers at no cost to the buyer, which is nice because the shipping weight on this was 21 pounds.Overall, I wish I had one of these! I am not a coffee drinker so I would only use it for hot cocoa and tea and I could never justify spending $300 for a hot cocoa maker. Green Mountain does sell smaller coffee brewers at more affordable prices, however.

Green Mountain also has a huge selection of different types of coffees to choose from (even seasonal ones like Spicy Eggnog and Gingerbread!), as well as regular teas, herbal teas and hot cocoa. There really are too many different types of coffees to list (check out their website), but I'm listing the current flavors that were in the catalog below if anyone is interested:

India Spice Chai Tea

Authentic Green Tea

Decaf Green Tea

Devonshire English Breakfast Tea

Victorian Earl Grey Black Tea
