I love to travel! I have flown on many carriers, but I hadn't experienced a flight on British Airways until this last July. My husband and I flew from Seattle, Washington to London, England where we changed planes and traveled on to our final destination of Edinburgh, Scotland.
I will try to share the good, the bad, and the ugly.
First, the boarding process went very smoothly on each flight. Take off and arrival were right on time.
Second, the flight attendants were some of the friendliest of any airline I have traveled on. No matter what the request they never acted like you were inconveniencing them (unlike what I have experienced on other airlines). This was an overnight flight. At one point I paged the flight attendant and due to her experience she evidently assumed that I was desiring a glass of water. She was right. What service.
Third, the in-flight entertainment system - When we flew they were just implimenting a new program. They probably have it functioning properly now, but when we flew it had to be rebooted several times. This meant that the movie we were watching had to start over at the beginning.
Fourth, the food was very similar to other airlines. It was just standard airline industry food service.
Fifth, the baggage handling- somehow half of our luggage managed to get misrouted and London and did not show up until late the next day. If you can believe this. . .our luggage got lost on the return flight also! It was delivered to our house late that evening. I would advise going with a carry-on only.
It is hard to know exactly how to rate an airline, as they all seem to fall short of most passengers expectations. I would definitely fly with them again, as they are one of the few that still us the roomy 747's.
