Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm is a product I absolutely cannot live without! Even at a rather hefty price tag of $2.99 (for simple lip balm), I must keep a tube with me at all times. I currently have one in my desk drawer (at home AND at work), pants pocket, glove compartment of my car, bathroom, bedside table... well, you get the picture!
Burt's Bees is an environmentally and socially responsible company that produces a line of skin and body care products (including cosmetics). The lip balm itself dates to the founder's original recipe, a combination of beeswax, oils and extracts that he perfected in his home and sold at craft fairs before the company became a national name.
The products, including the lip balm, are now available throughout the U.S. and several other countries. In the U.S., the product is available at chain stores such as CVS, Walgreens and Target as well as many small locally owned businesses that choose to stock this line of products.
The lip balm itself is packaged in a cheerful yellow tube and states it is "Soothing. Cooling. Refreshing." It is exactly that. The combination of peppermint oil, comfrey root extract and rosemary extract lend a refreshing scent and cooling sensation. The beeswax, oils (coconut, sunflower), vitamin E and lanolin provide superior moisturizing comfort to dry, parched lips regardless of the season. To go along with the company's environmentally friendly ethics, the tube containing the lip balm itself is made of 50% post-industrial recycled plastic and none of their products are tested on animals.
Give it a try! I promise you won't be sorry!
