I like to shop at Peter's Imports where they get in a wide array of products from many different companies. I can always find something unusual and tempting at prices up to 70% off.
This Butter Almond Toffee in a decorative tin was an impulse buy but one that ended up being the most delicious candy I've tasted. As a fan of Heath candy bars I thought I would give it a try. For $5.00 I got a generous tin weighing in at 20 oz., reduced from the $9.99 sale price, and which normally sells retail for $27.95. I'm always happy to find a bargain!
I took it home and it sat on the shelf for a couple of weeks tempting me to open it. Finally when I had a neighbor over it was a good excuse to give it a taste test. WOW!!!! The buttery toffee covered with mouth watering chocolate and almond bits on top was almost too much. It was so good we could have had one piece after another but we stopped at 4 and promised each other an extra mile on the treadmill. There were two layers with each paper cup containing 2 pieces of the toffee.
I decided to do a little internet searching and found that this company was started in 1916 by two polish immigrants in Milwaukee, WI where they continue their family tradition today of making the best confections available with multiple locations available. Please check out their website at www.qcbs.com which includes Buddy Squirrel for premier nuts. Many of the products come packaged for year round holidays making them perfect for gift giving, something I would like to do for my neighbor at Christmas. We talk about that toffee often because of course it was all gone when I went back!
I'll go out on a limb and promise this will be the best toffee you've ever tasted and rates right up there with my review on the Chardonnay Peanut Brittle. If I'm going to indulge once in a while it might as well be with the best. The treadmill and I are good friends for this reason.
