Since my best china is Royal Albert's Old Country Roses (which I need to do a review on piece by piece), I am always on the lookout for any pieces that will compliment my set. While browsing in a Tuesday Morning store, during my Christmas vacation, I came across a fabulous set of 6 18/10 stainless steel spreaders, in the Old Country Roses pattern. I am sure that they could be used for jellies and jams, but my primary intended use will be to use them as butter knives. Whenever I set up a buffet dinner or luncheon, I love to have pretty serving pieces to go along with the occasion. Fancy butter knives can take quite a beating over time, and start to look scratched and discolored. So with this fabulous set of 6, I will have nice looking butter serving knives for quite awhile.
Each spreader is stainless steel, trimmed in decorative gold plate, with gold roses in several areas. I have some gold utensils that they would blend well with, as well as the traditional stainless and silver-plated serving pieces.
With the retail price being about $40.00, this is quite a great bargain. I was thrilled to find these elegant spreaders.
