Let me start off by saying as far as beauty goes this little island tops the list, with its gorgeous clear blue water, and pure white sandy beaches, Caladesi Island on Florida's Gulf of Mexico ranks pristine in sights and focal luxuries. Only obtainable by boat, this little hideaway offers what you are looking for in privacy and secluded family fun. There are many nature paths on the island that boast beautiful birds, geckos, tropical plants and even the occasional rattlesnake. There is an old water tower landmark that is a must see while you visit Caladesi Island. I ranked accommodation a zero, due in part there is no hotel or campsite on the island itself. There also is no real restaurant except for a small store that is way over priced and a definite tourist trap, be sure to pack your own lunch and ice cold drinks. If you don't have a way to get there, the Honeymoon Island Boat departs hourly to Caladesi. Its a joyful, but crowded trip, and the ticket lines can be long, so arrive early. There is a rental stand near the beach in which they rent chairs, umbrella's and kayaks. They go fast so if you forgot your sunscreen, you need to snag an umbrella. Remember that the Florida sun is HOT! Whether its kayaking through the bayous to enjoy the wildlife or just being a beach bum for the day, Caladesi ranks as a top choice for the perfect beach getaway.
