Call of Duty 4 for PC, activisions latest installment in the Call of Duty series, is shaping up to be a big hit among PC gamers. As an FPS player for nearly a decade now, it's always been commonplace for games to come out and not run too great maxed out. Call of Duty 4 on the other hand runs great maxed out on most up to date hardware configurations.
The single player is what you'd expect from a Call of Duty game. I can't comment on that in great detail because I ran through the single player and didn't give it much thought. The multiplayer on the other hand is a bit more run and gun feeling than it's PC predecessor, Call of Duty 2. In call of duty 2, there was some more emphasis on using bolt-action rifles and sniping if you wanted to do that, and you could be effective. As it stands right now however, the sniper is next to useless. The crosshair will begin to wave, and it is not accurate at all unless you hold your breath and actually wait a full second or two for the scope to completely stop. That is a far cry from how sniping was in COD2, and it's the reason why any multiplayer game you go in on COD4 will not have a sniper in the top 3.
For the most part, if you want to have a decent multiplayer experience and any chance of topping the boards, you better choose something other than the sniper rifle. If you're content with using the regular machine guns or shotgun, you'll probably do very well. However, if you dare to try and be a good sniper in multiplayer, be prepared to throw some profanities at the screen and suffer from discouraging moments.
