Well I know this review is coming a bit late, but as my very first review I thought I would write about a video game that I have been playing very recently during my half-term school holiday.
As many of you will know 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' (COD:MW2(MW2)) is the latest game in the 'Call of Duty' series and the sequel to Call of Duty:
Modern Warfare (COD:MW). It was highly anticipated by gamers and reviewers alike and they had every good reason to. This is the cutting edge of first-person-shooters and will remain forever as one of the games that MADE the Call of Duty series. Unlike it's predecessor, Modern Warfare, this instalment has a 'Special Ops' mode in which players complete challenges and 'side-missions', I guess is the right term, in numerous groups; Alpha, Beta, Charlie....etc.
One of the major aspects that players hoped would be remedied was an extremely quick campaign mode, but I'm sorry to say Infinity Ward is still thinking along the lines of 'quality not quantity'. Even though, as I said, the campaign mode is very enjoyable, it is also very short! I was able to complete it the day after I completed it, and one of my friends told me of how his 8yr old little brother beat it in 2hours on veteran!
Although the campaign mode is annoyingly brief the game offers many hours in the multi-player mode. You can fight against opponents from around the world in a multitude of pre-loaded maps as well as player created ones. There are many modes to play in as well, from Team Deathmatch (TDM), to Escort the bomb!
You'll find yourself sitting for hours in front of your TV screen playing till your thumbs come off with this extraordinary game.
In conclusion, I think that COD 6: MW2 is a must-have for any hardcore gamer but not so much for someone new to first-person shooters as it will take some getting used to.
