Painted Skin is a movie based on Pu Songling's classical novel, strange stories from Chinese Studio. It tells about a fox demon which is fall in love with a General. When eliminating a band of bandits, General Wang Sheng (Chen Kun) saved Zhou Xun (Xiao Wei) and brings her back to the palace. Zhou Xun is a demon that feasts on human hearts in order to maintain her lovely, youthful appearance. Many citizens were murdered by Zhou Xun's partner, another salamander demon who keeps bring human hearts to maintain her disguise. Zhou Xun plans to make the General fall in love with him. Day by day, she begins to threat the General's wife Pei Rong (Zhao Wei) so that Pei Rong will leave his husband. She even asks Pei Rong to confess that Pei Rong is the real demon that killed citizens so far. Because of her love to the General, Pei Rong accepts the offer. Finally, the truth is expressed. Zhou Xun cannot cover her disguise anymore. This movie is more of a love story rather than a ghost story. I like it very much. The story is very good, full of intrigue. It told me about real love, which is a willingness to sacrifice everything for the person we loved. This movie is produce by Splash Entertainment and Cheyenne Enterprises.
