I guess I don't technically own this item. I do a lot of technology purchasing for the school district that I work for. We have a 2nd grade teacher who is pregnant with twins and is in the hospital on VERY strict bedrest. Last week, when visiting with her, she asked if it would be possible to use our video conferencing equipment for her to talk to her class. I told her that no matter what, I would make SOMETHING work!
I found out that the IVDL equipment that we have would not accomplish what I wanted to do. We already had one small web cam in the district so I planned to bring that one to the hospital and I went out and purchased a Microsoft Live Cam for the classroom. I picked this particular model because it has an integrated microphone. I was worried about trying to pass a mic around to the class of second graders but this was perfect!
The cam was easy to install and worked wonderfully for the hospitalized teacher to communicate with her class. I left the two web cams in place and set things up so that they can continue to make a live connection when it is best for the teacher and the class. This has gone a long ways towards lifting the hospitalized teacher's spirits and the Microsoft Live Cam was great to work with!
