What a great product. I used this Canoscan LIDE 25 to scan a bunch of old pictures my grandmother shot decades ago, most fragile and most in black and white, and they all scanned perfectly. This scanner is very thin and sleek, and it's a Canon, so ofcourse it's a high quality product. I think I'm becoming a bit biased to Canon maybe. They do charge a bit more of a premium price, but the quality does make up for it, I can vouch for that with their cameras as well.
This scanner is pretty fast too. There are decent range of settings that will really scour the photo if you want to try and maximize quality, but the normal setting usually produces great quality scans with quick speed. Incorporating a family album into the world of digital photography is a piece of cake with this item, and at this value, I'd probably buy another one if I ever managed to wrecklessly break it.
