Image for Canon IXUS 65 Camera Review

I have a big interest in photography. I love taking pictures from around. I'm dreaming to have an SLR camera in the future but right now, I couldn't afford to buy one. But I'm glad I have instead, my Canon IXUS 65 camera. Though not the high-end camera, I like my Canon IXUS 65 because of its size. Its small, compact pocket sized built yet the LCD screen 3 inches large. Main feature is this has 6 megapixels and 3x optical zoom lens. I also observe that I was able to take good quality pictures from this camera when the lighting is good thus this one is best for outdoor shoots. This is basically a point and shoot camera. The image quality is excellent; very sharp, vivid color photograph. I am so impressed because this camera was able to take such detailed, true to life images. Canon IXUS 65 slim camera is measuring 90.3 x 56.8 x 20.2mm and weighing 145g. The size and shape fits perfectly on the pocket so it's easy to carry along whenever and wherever. It has a built in flash with a maximum range of 3.5 m. You can choose flash modes from automatic, on, off, slow sync speed and red eye reduction. The modes available are Portrait, Night Snapshot, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Underwater, Indoor, Kids & Pets, Color Accent and Color Swap. Stitch Assist is also available to help with panoramic type shots. Wide range of colour modes is also present. These are Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, Black & White, Positive Film, Lighter Skin Tone, Darker Skin Tone, Vivid Blue, Vivid Green and Vivid Red. And of course, it has an option for custom color setting.

Canon IXUS 65 has self timer capability and you can set the timer to either two or ten seconds or custom setting up to 30 seconds delay. Standard aspect ratio is 4:3 but you can also set 16:9 for images to be shown on widescreen TV. Images are stored in JPEG file format at around 3.5MB for best quality picture.

Image resolution to choose is (L)2816 x 2112, (M1)2272 x 1704, (M2)1600 x 1200, (S)640 x 480, (W)2816 x 1584, (Postcard Date Imprint) 1600 x 1200. Default storage capacity is 16 MB but is expandable via SD/MMC card.

This camera also has video recording capability up to 30 frames per second maximum. The resolution is 640 x 480. Standard movie can take up to 1GB and stored in .AVI video file. Necessary cables and software to be able to connect to a television or a computer or a PictBridge compatible printer is included in the box. Another good thing in this camera is it uses a rechargeable lithium ion battery. A full charge battery can take up 160 photos. I have this old Kodak camera that uses AA alkaline batteries and I regret having it because I realize it cost me much buying batteries every time.

Over-all, I would say that this is a good camera for all season. Versatile, compact, stylish metal finish, and easy to use. Canon IXUS 65 is an excellent all-around camera for beginner photo enthusiast.
