Image for Canon PowerShot SX20 IS

A few weeks ago I decided to buy a new digital camera. I already had a Canon Powershot SD1000 but I wanted a better one and I didn't have $1 000 to spend on a reflex camera. After searching informations on the internet, my choice ended with the new Canon Powershot SX20 IS.The Powershot SX20 IS is a 12.1 Megapixel resolution camera. I see the difference in the quality of the pictures between this camera and the 7, 1 megapixel I used before.

It has a large 2.5-inch LCD monitor which can be used in various positions.

One good thing about this camera is the 20X optical zoom with optical image stabilizer. It reduces camera shake so you achieve great images whether you are up close or far away.

The camera has many different settings and scene modes : Auto, Program, Aperture-priority, Shutter-priority, Manual, Custom, Portrait Landscape, Sports, Indoor, Sunset, Night scene, Fireworks, Beach, Aquarium, Foliage, Snow, ISO 3200, coulour Accent, Colour Swap and Super Macro.

You can also make 720p HD movies with this camera.

One thing I don't really like is that it's powered by 4 AA-size batteries. My other digital camera had a battery pack that I was able to charge when needed. But we can buy a battery charger kit for this camera and that's what I will do. You can find the information about the battery charger kit in the Canon PowerShot SX20 IS Getting Started manual included with the camera.

I bought this camera on sale for $ 410 CAN (about $380 US). The memory card wasn't included. For the price it is a really nice digital camera and I am really looking forward to take some nice pictures during the holidays.
