When my old Nikon digital camera broke, I was forced to get another one. The problem at that time was that, I did not have a lot of extra money. Actually, I did not have extra money and so I settled for a cheap Olympus camera. It was fine for the price. It has a lot of settings and I think it is durable.
However, it did not come with a memory card, unlike other brands, and so I was forced to buy its matching memory card. The Olympus memory card is not the regular SD card used in most cameras. Theirs is a specialized camera card called the Olympus xD picture card.
Well, for its price, I got a 2GB memory. Not bad. And it processes fast, too. So when I download pictures, even when I take big photos, it is quite fast. At least for my standards.
My problem lies though in the fact that the xD card is a specialized card. It is smaller than the SD Card and so it does not fit most card readers. Not my separate card reader nor the reader in my laptop. I will need to have a cord to attach the camera to the laptop. So if I don't have the cord with me, I can't download pictures anywhere. This is a problem when we take photos with the group in another place and they want to download the photos to their device. As I usually don't bring along the cord with me, I have to download the photos at home and email the photos to my friends. It's tough.
If given the choice, I would have bought a Canon camera. It has a free SD card with it. Although it is more expensive, the photo and video quality are so much better.
