When Disney and Pixar team up, magic happens, and this is the case in the movie Cars. This is a story of Lightning McQueen, a rookie race car driver trying to make it big by winning the Piston Cup. He has an unexpected trip however to the forgotten town of Radiator Springs, where he is forced to stay for a few days. He meets some of the town residents, and ends up learning a lot about himself, and what being a friend means during his stay.
I LOVE this movie! My son (age 4), also gives this one 2 thumbs up! It is completely unlike other movies that we have seen, so it was nice to see something other than a sequel. Although all the characters in the movie are cars, it is easy to forget that fact while you watch, because the animation is so wonderful and lifelike, and each car has its own distinct personality so that they seem human.
As with any Disney movie, there are jokes layered into the movie- some the kids will get, and subtle ones just for the adults to enjoy, so you can all watch together.
The voices are spot-on with the characters too, and you will recognize most of them as famous actors- there are also a couple of NASCAR drivers too, so if you are a fan of racing, you will have fun trying to figure out who is who! I definitely recommend this movie to any age!
Cars is rated G, and is 116 minutes long. Don't forget to check out the Bonus features as well- there are a lot of good ones- our favorite is "Mater and the Ghostlight."
