We received the Carter’s Baby Memory book as a gift prior to our son being born. It is in simplest terms a scrapbook, but it is guided and includes a lot of places to record many little facts and details that just go by so quickly it is hard to remember them. There are over 50 pages to record facts, measurements, family info and photos. There are pages to record changes by month, immunizations, birthdays, and important stuff like when the first tooth came and went, when the child first crawled, and when he or she said the first word and what it was. There are even pages for Mommy and Daddy to write a letter to their child. I will admit though it was pretty emotional doing this.
This is a fantastic book for parents to record not just the major events but all the little details in their child’s life. Whenever I look through the book it always make me remember and smile. Seeing his little handprints, remembering what the weather was like when we brought him home, and seeing the little things that I probably wouldn’t have recorded without this book. I am sure as he grows older he too will enjoy reading the book to see things like how we chose his name and other names we thought about. Also, having a place that records his family history and all of the big events of his life will be great for him.
The only downside to this book is that there is not any particular way to put the pictures in it. I guess you might use tape or glue but while there are plenty of pages that ask for specific photos, there is nothing included to attach them with.
This is a great book to have as a parent or give as a gift. I would recommend given or getting it early though as the book starts with places to record when Mommy first found out she was expecting, when the first heartbeat was heard, and other early facts. It is a great reminder to appreciate everything our children do, and while I am sure we do, sometimes it is hard to remember all those special little moments without recording them.
