We had the EX-500 (predecessor to this model) and loved it. But my wife dropped it in the ocean; it never worked properly again. So we got the EX-600-for essentially the same price. I got the extended warranty from Circuit City because of what happened with the previous model. Sure enough, just a few months later, I dropped it on a rock-and the LCD broke. It took about 3 weeks but Circuit City evaluated and gave us a full credit. I ended up getting the same camera. The 600 doesn't work as reliably as the 500; sometimes it won't turn on and you have to take the battery out to "reboot" it. There also seems to be more shutter lag than with the 500.
Other than that, still the easiest to use digital camera out there with fantastic close up shots. Just make sure you get the extended warranty.
