I am very much fond of trekking and hiking. On top of it I love to visit snowy places a lot. Chandrashila Winter Trek program added flavours to my ambitions. We were all planning to go for a trek from office. One of my colleugues suggested us about this place. These are one of the best splendours of Ladakh. This trek takes you through some amazing terrain the highlights being Chopta, Tungnath and of course Chandrashila Peak itself. Chopta is also known as "Switzerland of India" which is at an altitude of 2600 m, and offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks against the clear blue skies. Also the green meadows and the sunset added more spice to the scene.
Someone suggested that there is a Tungnath Temple, at an altitude of 3, 680 mt, is the highest Lord Shiva shrine among the Panch Kedars. From the peaks of this temple we can view the Bandar Poonch, Kedar, Chaukhamba and Dunagiri peaks. The trek to Tungnath is abundant with rich flora and fauna, with one passing through many a grassy slope. From Chandrashila Peak one gets a 180 degrees view of the Himalayas that seem to be within arm's length. This is one of the wonders we can see in the himalaya range.
Can you believe we can cover all this in just a 3 days span? Depart from Delhi to Haridwar on Day 1. Then move to Chopta and camp for the night. It is 14 km trek to and fro Chopta and Chandrashila on Day 3. On your way you can visit the Tungnath Temple . Night you can camp in Chopta and then early morning head back to Delhi.
Best season to visit this place is december to March since you can enjoy the snowy ranges.
They had provided us accommodation in tents during the trek on twin sharing basis, in a guesthouse/tents. All meals beginning with breakfast would be vegetarian. If you buy the entire package they would cover everything.
The cost ranges from 20, 000-25, 000 Rs depending upon the type of trek you are opting for. You can go for extra amenities like rafting paying extra amount. This package excludes service tax. Query here for the details of schedules and bookings. Click here
I really enjoyed a lot going on trekking and you have their website as given above, choose from any trekking place and get set going.
