I am a big fan of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series. I bought my first Chicken Soup for the Soul book when I was in the Philippines and was going through rough times in my career and personal life.
Many years after, I did not stop on that original Chicken Soup for the Soul book. I bought plenty more thereafter and gave them as a collective gift to my mom when my dad passed away 4 years ago. I was not there with here physically after we buried our father because I had to be back here in Dubai. She was in deep sorrow and I thought of giving her my valuable collection of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series which saw me go through some tough times. These books became inspiration when I was down and it never ceased to amaze me how each time I grab a copy of a new series, the same powerful effect of lifting my spirit is always there.
I bought this Dog Lover's series before my dad died the same year. Then, I was mourning for the loss of my beloved Rambo, a pug, who had been with me while I was still single. It broke my heart to leave him in the Philippines as I ventured to a new place. My family were so afraid to break the news to me when my beloved "pug bear" passed away. Somehow, I felt he did when I suddenly asked my mom "how did he die?"
This book gave me comfort to know that even if my Rambo is up there in heaven with the angels and saints and other loving pets we have had. The book comprises of stories contributed by dog lovers all over. They shared their stories of love, courage, friendship, loyalty and also humour as all felt and seen from their loving 4-legged best friend we all call our dogs.
It's a thick book with 398 pages from front to back. The print is of high quality as all the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series are.
I do recommend this book to all your dog lovers out there. Each story has a different twist and effect on you. Some made me cry out of sheer joy, some stories made me chuckle on the antics of the owners' pets, while others made me feel how it is to lose a best friend in the form of a furry being.
