We stayed at the Chief Motel in Custer, South Dakota. We knew when we booked it that it was a small private owned motel. We didn't know what it would be like, but the price was great. Only $54 a night.
We were very surprised with the motel. The owners are wonderful people and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.
The rooms were decent size, two queen beds, coffee maker, microwave and a small fridge. Plus a nice size TV. The bathrooms are small, and there is no bathtub, only a shower but that was OK for us.
They do have a nice pool. The nice thing about this is it is an indoor pool. When we were looking around Custer, we found most motel pools were outside.
The other plus to this motel was you could prebuy a meal ticket for a restruant just down the block. It was for breakfast and it included 2 eggs, toast, hashbrowns, your choice of bacon, saugage or ham and orange juice/coffee. All this for only $1.99! It was really a great deal.
I would recommend to anyone staying in the Black Hills of South Dakota to check out the Chief Motel in Custer. It may not look like much on the outside but we would stay there in a heartbeat again.
