Children Just Like Me- a unique celebration of children around the world.
In association with UNICEF (The United Nations Children's Fund)
Published by Dorling Kindersley 1995I truly can't say enough good things about this beautiful book. It goes without saying, since it is a Dorling Kindersley book, that the photographs are outstanding. So together with the theme and text of the book, this one is a standout.
The foreword in the book is written by Harry Belefonte, who is one of the Goodwill Ambassadors for UNICEF and who has done great things for the cause of children in need, including the "We Are the World" concert to benefit children of Africa in 1985.
Children Just Like Me was published in celebration of UNICEF's fiftieth anniversary. The book features thirty-seven children and their families from all points of the globe with vignettes on the lifestyle, diet, school, clothing, occupation of the parents, hobbies, likes and dislikes of each one. Together will all these interesting facts and fabulous photos of the children, are equally wonderful photos of the land they live in.
The areas of the world from which the children are chosen are: The Americas; Europe; Africa; Asia; and Southeast Asia and Australasia.
This book can be enjoyed by the smallest child to the oldest adult. All of my children have enjoyed it and it remains one of the best loved books in my collection.
