The Children’s Museum of Virginia, located in Portsmouth, VA is a wonderful place to spend the day with your family! There are some many interactive activities and rooms to play in! The museum is a two story experience that even has its own Planetarium. The bottom floor has “The City”, where there is a city bus, fire truck, and police motorcycle to hop on and “drive”. There is also a grocery store, a dentist office, and a bank> where you can see how much money you are tall. This is where my 4 yr old son wanted to spend most of his time! Some of other rooms on the first floor included a dinosaur room, a construction zone room, where there was a working crane the kids could use! The two most popular rooms for my 7 yr old daughter where the Art Moves room, in where there was little room that had a special light show that incorporated your shadow in it, and the Bubble Room. I think I enjoyed the Bubble room the most the most! Where else can you get inside a bubble? There are two rings in this room that allow you to step inside and draw up a bubble around yourself. The room included other run way to make and play with bubbles! The upstairs floor made my son delight in their extremely large toy train collection/setup. There was also a playroom with train tables, with our favorite engine Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. Also upstairs where some science based rooms, playing with sound, gravity, and shadows, a music room, and even a kid sized rock climbing wall. My family spent almost 4 hours in there one Saturday, and the kids didn’t want to leave! My husband & I also very much enjoyed our time! It is a great place to play, have fun, and learn a few things too!
I can’t wait til we can make it back there for another good time! My family & I give it all 8 thumbs up!
