Even though we went to the ocean this Christmas, and there was no fireplace mantle, I still wanted my husband and I to be able to hang our Christmas stockings. One of the fun things that we do every year, is fill a stocking with small gifts for each other.
So even though the chimney was missing, we hung our stockings in the window, by the Christmas tree. They were terrific looking new stockings this year. The one I am describing in this review was mine. It was red (a velvet-like material), with silver sparkles all over it (well naturally). But the cutest part was the white fur around the top. It was so girly and feminine, in a classic holiday look. I got it at TJ Maxx for $7.99, and it's dry clean only, but that shouldn't be a problem, since I'd probably get a new one when it needed cleaning anyway.
My husband's stocking was macho--with the three wise guys. It had a green velvet background with multi-colored wise men.
We hung them both by the tree, with care (as the poem goes--well, sort of) and they looked wonderful, with the ocean in the background. (Santa was sure not to miss them, as he flew over the seaside.)
On Christmas Eve, our stockings were filled to the brim. I got candles, and even some M&Ms--my favorite candy. He got pens, cologne, and his favorite candy--a couple of Mounds candy bars.
And when all the goodies were emptied out, the Christmas stockings held their shape, and looked as good as new for next year!
If you are a grown-up, but no longer hang a stocking at Christmas, then you're missing out. And you can get some great ones by Yuletide Treasures at TJ Maxx. Don't miss out next year!
