Since we are expecting our second child later this year, we decided to only take a short mini vacation instead of our usual week-long vacation. We did this mainly to save money and to save time for my husband to take off when the baby arrives. We decided to go up to Wisconsin Dells for a 3-night/4 day vacation.
I was lucky enough to have an Entertainment Book which offered half-off on a number of Wisconsin Dells Resorts/Hotels. After searching each of their websites, we decided to stay at the Chula Visit Resort. We got a presidential suite, which had a separate bedroom, for $250 for all 3 nights. This price also included free access to the waterpark.
The resort is located just outside of the main Wisconsin Dells strip. This was perfect for us as we planned to spend most of our time at our hotel.
When we got to our room, we were so impressed. It was huge! There were 2 balconies, a small kitchette (microwave, mini fridge, sink), a huge living room with a TV and fireplace, a large bathroom with a huge soaking tub, and a separate bedroom with a TV and a king size bed. Of course, we didn't come for the room. We came for the waterpark. Unfortunately we weren't able to get to the waterpark until the next morning.
After we went into breakfast in town, we visited the indoor waterpark at Chula Visita. It was amazing. They have a lazy river, a Myan temple with 3 smaller waterslides and giant bucket that spills 500 gallons of water onto the wet deck, a kiddie area with 2 very small waterslides, and 5 waterslides. Three of the five waterslides even go outdoors. They are completely covered though and are used year-round.
There is an outdoor waterpark which we didn't get to enjoy because it was a bit too cold outside still. There is also an indoor pool and an outdoor hot springs spa. We never got a chance to visit those either. We were having too much fun in the indoor waterpark.
Also located near the indoor waterpark is an arcade. We spent a lot of time here also and ended up winning our son a Big Bird doll.
There is on-site dining. However, we only ate at the Crash Landings snack bar in the pool area. For the rest of our meals, we went into town. It was cheaper that way. Chula Vista does offer packages though which do include on-site dining.
I know that I came nowhere close in describing how much this resort has to offer. We didn't even get to visit all the fun things. I'd love to go back again when we can spend even more time there.
I would recommend Chula Visita to any family going up to Wisconsin Dells.
