I tried Colgate PreviDent 5000 at the urging of my dental hygienist. It is a prescription toothpaste that has 5000 ppm of fluoride for the ultimate in preventative care.
I go to great lengths to care for my teeth, and yet I always had a huge build-up of plaque when I went for my regular check-ups. She thought this might help minimize the build-up and help to protect my teeth.
I've been using it for over a year now and we have seen great advances. It was recommended for me to use it at least once a day and brush like normal but do not rinse afterwards. This gives the teeth the full benefit of the fluoride. I also don't eat or drink anything for at least an hour after using it (so I usually use it before bedtime). It was even recommended to just kind of rub it on with my finger and let it set to set in in problem areas.
My teeth have considerably less plaque now at my 6-month check-ups. My hygienist and dentist have definitely noticed an improvement in my mouth.
My only criticism is that it does not freshen my breath for long. It has a nice, clean minty taste while brushing, but my breath does not taste fresh as long as I would like.
