I have stayed at this hotel on more than one occasion for the International Freedom Festival, the marvellous fireworks display and summer carnival.
From the moment you walk in the door the tone for your visit is set, friendliness, courtesy and comfort. The lobby is stylish and classical with a two storey chandelier and several cozy seating areas. The staff is efficient at serving your every need from valet parking to concierge assistance whether making restaurant reservations or giving advice about the tourist attractions.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious with a striking decor and modern conveniences, LCD televisions, computer keyboards with television accessibility and connections for laptops at the grand desk with newly styled, plush leather chairs. The bathrooms have Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries in case any items have been forgotten. I know when we are away the last thing we want to do is iron, but they have an iron and ironing board in the front closet to address any wrinkles in the clothes from travel. Bottled water and a coffee maker for tea and coffee are present.
Every room in the hotel is architecturally appointed with windows that take advantage of the spectacular view of the waterfront and lush parkland, Dieppe Gardens.
The Park Terrace restaurant lives up to its name, also, overlooking the gorgeous river view with a bright, floral decor. The staff are kind, helpful and accommodating making individual order suggestions if the menu doesn't meet your fancy or you are in the mood for something light. The food is superb, a varied menu from pasta to lobster. The desserts are out of this world. The only drawback is the dinners are slightly pricey.
A business centre with faxes can be found on the same floor. Rooms for conventions and receptions are just down the hall. A larger centre is connected to the hotel for business gatherings or entertainment with an arts theatre that hosts top name musical players from Kenny Rogers to Celine Dion.
An indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym are on the third floor.
The prime location is two blocks from one of the cities shopping districts and many restaurants. It is three blocks from the Caesars casino. A shuttle bus is available every fifteen minutes to transport guests to the casino.
I would highly recommend this excellent hotel in an ideal locale with fairly reasonable room rates averaging about $159.00 a night for a family of four.
