I bought two Community Helpers Wooden Puzzles from Once Upon a Child. This store is sort of like a consignment store but you get paid up front for all items brought in which they select from you. They also sell some brand new items. These puzzles were wrapped/sealed and brand new. I can't say how important it is to have your little one work with these wooden puzzles. If you have trouble finding a particular puzzle, you have many to choose from (different brands). I especially liked The Learning Journey products. The puzzles have big knobs on each piece, seems like it is easier for the child to hold and manipulate during play. I've seen some really small thin knobs. I don't particularly care for those ones. The puzzle pieces are a good medium size. The pieces are colorful and cute. The Community Helpers puzzle has a dog-doctor bag-tree with a cat-a school-clouds-flower and a mailbox. Each puzzle piece has a certain spot with the exact same look. For example the fireman piece goes in the fireman slot and the airplane goes in the airplane slot. My kids took to these puzzles rather quickly. So glad I bought them. Children can learn eye hand coordination, thinking skills, colors, words, memory and naming objects/people just to name a few. The knobs are easy to grasp and place in their slots. Wooden puzzles assist the child with their developmental skills;highly recommend.
