I've had my Compaq laptop for awhile, but I wanted to use it for a few months before I gave my opinion of this laptop. Now that I have experience with it, here's my review of the Compaq Presario V6719NR.

I looked at several models and price ranges before I made my purchase. I wouldn't be using the laptop for much more than writing reviews, surfing the internet or emailing. I do listen to internet Hawaiian radio stations, so speaker quality was very important to me. This laptop's speakers were okay, but I did end up buying some external speakers to hook up to the laptop to boost the volume.

One feature I wasn't thrilled with at first, and I'm still not, is the way the laptop closes. You shut the lid. That's it. It doesn't snap or lock or anything. It just closes. When you want to open the laptop up, you have to use two hands. One hand holds down the bottom of the laptop and the other hand lifts up the top. I think this was bad design. I wish it locked when it is closed.

A couple features I love are the little blue lights on the keyboard and the touch sensitive volume controls. It's just something about those little blue lights against the black keyboard, it looks cool! The volume controls for the speakers are awesome! All you have to do is glide your finger across the panel and it increases or decreases the volume. You can also tap the + or - button to achieve the same results.

Here are some other important features of my laptop:

AMD Athlon 64 Mobile Technology TK-57 and 512KB L2 Cache (1.9GHZ)

15.4 WXGA High Definition BrightView Widescreen Display

160 GB Hard Drive

802.11b/g WLAN

Light Scribe Super Multi 8x DVD+RW

6 Cell Lithium-Ion battery

nVidia GeForce 7150M with shared graphics memory

5 in 1 Digital Media Reader

Express Card/54 PC Card Slot

Expanision Port 3

Windows Vista Home Premium

Stereo Earbud Headphones

I would definitely recommend this laptop for general use. It was not the cheapest or most expensive laptop I saw in the store, but it did seem to be the the right one for me.
