Well, summer is here and the kids are out of school and their goes all that eduacation out the window, or not! Back when my children were really little I had over heard some moms talking about how much information a child loses over summer break and that one of the moms was using a book that had all the different subjects to help them retain the information or the summer. I started using the books wich I orginally bought at Lakeshore learning center for abut $20 dollars a book but, after a few years I realized sams carried a similar book for a lot less money. After using the book for several years I decided that we were going to take a summer off and noticed a difference in the kids the following year. So, we have not missed a year since. My daughter is no longer do them because they only go up to Grade 6, and she is gong into 8th. But just to brag she is a straight A student and has been since kindergarten. YEAH!!
The Comprehensive Curriculum of basic skills grade 5, It contains Reading, English, Reading Comprenhension, Math and Writing sections in it and the pages are perforated so that they come out easily. The answers are in the back of the book.(just make sre you take them oout before your child works the book). It also has a glossary in the back of the book as well.
Some of the subjects have things that my son has not gone over this past yea, r but to me that is a great thing because it introduces him to new things that he will cover in the 5th grade.
The way we work it here is every day my son does one page per subject and then I grade it using the answers in the back and then we go over anything that he might not have gotten right. And then during the summer we do little things like go swimming at the community pool, see a movie etc. to reward him for the hard work.
I would highy recommend this book series, if you would like a easy simple way of keeping you child going and give the best start to th next year!!!
