I opened an account because I liked the fact that there is no contract, BUT BUT you are really have to be very careful, even extremely careful. I opened two phone lines, it is all nice smiley and rosey, I received all the thank you's of the world. I did not know the catch.
Well here is the catch, mobile to mobile are not included (within the same company). Anytime you use your phone even for checking your message the clock is ticking and the meter is charging. Those things are not explained up-front and of course everybody makes the same mistake, consequently everybody pays big and that is the business model. I am not a chit-chat type of person, I really do use my phone just for very important phone like doctor appointment or things of this type, no lengthy chatting. I received my first bill, ok hold the ground $239.12. When I saw my bank statement I was stunned. I tried to call, ok well good luck they put me on hold for hours.
As I said, there are a lot companies out there who have a shady business practice and unfortunately "Consummer Cellular" is one of them. I just do not advise anybody to open an account with them, and specially if you are senior citizen.
