I love cookbooks but only have so much room. With the ease of finding any recipe I might want on the internet, it's hard to justify another cookbook on my shelf. Coming Home " Food to Bring Family & Friends to the Table" by Gooseberry Patch is probably one of the last I purchased and certainly one of my favorites. I would recommend it to anyone looking for delicious recipes in a book chalk full of the most beautiful pictures of not only the recipes but decorating and craft ideas for each section listed below. The pictures are what inspired me to buy this cookbook and I'm sure you won't be disappointed either.

Coming Home was published in May, 2007 and contains 160 pages of recipes and pictures.

It is divided into these 11 sections:

Its Halloween: You won't believe the realistic Pumpkin Cheese Ball recipe and the Crunchy Hot Chicken Salad is one of my favorites. The Mummy Hot Dogs were a hit with the kids at one of our Halloween parties.

Giving Thanks: The Farmhouse Apple Bread is delicious and moist. Crustless Pumpkin Pie is so easy to make and always a hit when I bring it for a family Thanksgiving party.

Christmas in the Cabin: Overnight Raisin French Toast has become a favorite holiday breakfast treat while we are opening presents on Christmas morning.

Sunday Dinner: The Country Style 3-Bean Salad is a favorite of my husbands and the Dandy Deviled Eggs have a special twist to them! Send me a message and I'll be glad to share it with you.

Bake Sale: This section is full of treats to contribute to a school or church bake sale.

Picnic BBQ: My favorite recipe here is the Calico Beans which I kick up a notch by adding ground beef, it's a meal in itself.

Recipe Swap: This section inspired me to get together with scrapbooking friends. We each bring a new dish/dessert to taste with copies of the recipe to swap while we scrapbook the afternoon away. There's a to die for recipe here for a Golden Tequila Lime Tart, yumm....

Tag Sale: After a day of antiquing or garage sale shopping with your better half, daughter, or good friend, come home and pig out on BBQ Nachos or sanwiches made with Shredded Chicken which was cooking in my crock pot while I was out shopping.

County Fair: You'll find Travelin' Tacos, Funnel Cakes and a recipe for Sugared Cinnamon Pecans in this section.

Bonfire: Campfire Corn Dogs, Hobo Pouches and Chocolate Marshmallow Banana Boats are camping favorites or backyard treats!

Gifts for Giving: I think this is my favorite section which is filled with recipes and handmade gifts for the Christmas season.

If you are looking for a certain type of recipe the back of the book contains all the recipes by type: appetizers, beverages, breads, etc. There is also a U.S. to Canadian recipe equivalents which has come in handy a few times. I've tried to give you an overview of just some of my families favorites from this cookbook. They are only a few of the many great recipes in Coming Home by Gooseberry Patch.
