This may be one of the nicest pieces of clothing that I own. I actually bought it for myself, and it has been everything that I thought it would be.
I give programs about my hiking adventures quite often, and I need to look clean and neat, yet sporty for those events. I also happen to like vests a lot. When I saw this on a mark-down rack (½ price) I looked at it pretty hard. But we are always pressed for cash, so I left. A few minutes later I turned around and went back and bought this, because I knew it would be perfect to wear for programs. It has been as good as I hoped, and it travels well without wrinkling, too, an added bonus!
I’ve had good experiences with most Columbia sportswear, and this garment has lived up to that expectation.
The vest is a nylon/polyester blend. It has two side slash pockets, and the right one has a second pocket behind the first, with a zipper, to securely carry a wallet. The slash pockets are mesh. There is one breast pocket, with an asymmetrical flap that buttons. An extra button is provided in case of loss. The collar is a slightly different color, and the hem is also faced in this. It will lie down with the tabs open, or stand up if the vest is fully zipped. The zipper is nylon.
The vest is 3/4 lined with a polyester mesh.
I wear this for almost every program that I give. I tend to get too hot, quickly, but I look more nicely dressed with a vest or jacket. This vest has been perfect because it dresses up a shirt and jeans, and yet it doesn’t make me overheat quickly. The mesh lining helps keep the garment feeling cool.
The tag says that this is machine washable, but I’ve been very, very careful to keep it clean, and so far I haven’t washed it. I did spill a little bit of Coke on it, and that spot washed out perfectly.
There really isn’t anything about this that I don’t like.
Since this was a close-out, I’m not sure if it’s still available. The regular price was $40, and I got it for $20. The other issue for me is that I wanted size small, which this is, and it fits perfectly.
