I recently had a bad cough and sore scratchy throat due to a cold, I usually have some Halls cough drops, but I decided to try something different, so I picked up a package of Ricola Sugar Free cough and throat drops in the Green Tea and Echinacea flavor.

The flavor is really not bad at all, very natural and herbally tasting, with a touch of green tea flavoring. You get 19 lozenges in a package, majority of the ingredients are all natural including; peppermint oil, elder flower, thyme, hyssop, mallow, echinacea, horehound, sage and other herbs etc... The sugar free ones do contain sugar alcohols, sorbitol, and aspartame, if you have a sensitivity to these ingredients you will probably want to stay away from the sugar free formula! Sugar alcohols are known for their laxative effect, and these had that effect on me with just two lozenges!

As for helping my cough, these did not do much after the lozenge dissolved. I could feel the mint oils cooling my throat and a bit in my chest, but after a few minutes I was back to coughing and choking again. Oddly these sis seem to dry out my mouth and throat and made me feel that scratchy feeling, making me choke, then go into another coughing fit. I think it was the peppermint and menthol oils that dried out my mouth.

Unfortunately I will not be purchasing these again, I prefer my Halls Refresh and wish I had purchased that package instead of these!
