Last month my family stayed at a Country Inn and Suites for the first time- and we are so glad we did! We had booked the hotel online for a "park and fly" rate, because we were flying out of the nearby Baltimore Airport very early the next morning. With the park and fly rate, you pay for one night lodging, and you get up to 10 nights free parking at the hotel during your trip. The hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the airport for guests.
To be honest, we didn't expect much from this hotel- we just wanted a place to sleep a few hours, and somewhere to safely keep our car until the end of our vacation. What a pleasant surprise we got when we walked into this Country Inn and Suites!! The lobby is beautiful- a grand staircase made of gorgeous wood is directly in front of you when you walk in. The lobby also has a cozy fireplace with leather chairs to sit by the fire and relax. By the fire they have lots of books that you can actually sign out and take with you, as long as you promise to return them to any other Carlson hotel. My husband, an avid reader, loved this!
Since we were there during December, the lobby was bursting with festive Christmas decoration- red poinsettias, and a huge decorated Christmas tree made the hotel lobby feel like some sort of log cabin retreat. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, giving us advise on what time we should schedule our shuttle service for our morning flight. The shuttle driver was in the lobby as we were checking in, and he struck up a conversation right away with my 4-year-old. He informed my son that the best part about staying at their hotel was there are free cookies and milk available all the time- well, that was all it took for my son to be a happy camper! He eagerly followed the driver to the cookie jar, where he was allowed to pick out his own treat. What a nice touch!
The accomodations were very nice; our room was very clean, and looked like it had been recently remodeled- no signs of wear anywhere. The beds were comfortable, and the amenities were more than adequate. We received a wake up call in the morning, but we were already awake in anticipation for vacation. We all went down to enjoy the complimentary breakfast just off the hotel lobby. We expected it to be the normal cold cereal, muffins, etc that normally are at a continental breakfast- and again, we were happily surprised! The breakfast included lots of hot items like waffles, eggs, hash browns, plus there was delicous fresh fruit, juices, bagels, cereal, and all kinds of baked goods. Definitely something for everyone here- we were impressed.
After breakfast, we brought our luggage down to wait for our shuttle. We were a little early, so we got some hot cocoa and relaxed in front of the fireplace while we waited. The shuttle was right on time, and the driver was very friendly, and gave us some tips on our way to the airport.
At the end of our trip, when we arrived in BWI, we simply called the hotel and requested a shuttle pickup. They asked what airline we had flown on, and told us they would meet us right outside. Five minutes later, we were boarding our shuttle and headed back to the hotel to pick up our car. The driver pulled right up beside our vehicle so we didn't have to carry our luggage, which was appreciated, and she graciously invited us inside to get some cookies and coffee for our drive home.
We were so very happy with this hotel- we will absolutely be staying here again on future trips! The friendly staff is wonderful, and the accomodations are a nice home away from home while you are traveling.
