I homeschool my son and I needed a chalk board and dry erase board that wouldn't take up much space. I found several in office supply stores, but all of these needed to be hung on the wall. There were also a few which stands were available for, but those took more space than we had available in our classroom. Finally, we found the Crayola Double Magnetic Easel and decided to give it a try. It's been the best investment we have made!
The stand is made of a durable plastic in primary colors. Each side has a clip at the top to hold pictures or coloring pages for ease with painting or drawing. At the bottom of each side is two bins (4 total) which are pretty deep and easily detach for cleaning. They hold our chalk, magnetic letters and numbers, dry erase markers, and markers. It's very easy to clean and collapses with ease to move from one place to another.
One side is a basic chalk board that has worked well for us. It's perfectly sized for our classes, but also for playtime. It wipes down easily with a damp cloth. We've had no problems using a basic eraser to clean the board. We've also used several types of chalk and there were no stains like previous boards we've purchased.
The other side was a bonus for us. It is magnetic and they even added a bad of plastic letters and numbers to use. The added plus was the magnetic board doubles as a dry erase board. The eraser they have added works well on either side, but does have to be cleaned before switching over. I found an inexpensive eraser to use on the dry erase board and solved the problem inexpensively.
This easel is great for play time and class time. It has a wide range of uses. It saves space by combining them all in one. I'd suggest this to any parent whose child loves to paint, draw, color, do chalk work, or use magnets.
