Every year the top performers in my husbands company make it into the very prestigious Presidents club. In November, we found out that my husband had done so well last year that he had made it in. In his company, this is a really big deal. As a member of the club, you not only get recognized by your peers but you also get to attend an all expensive paid weekend getaway which was held this year in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The highlight of this weekend is the grand gala awards dinner that is held on the last night of the trip. The event is very formal and even though he already has a closet full of suits he never wears, he decided he wanted something new. It was here that our quest to find the perfect suit began.
We spent an entire weekend going from store to store and mall to mall looking at suits. He did not know exactly what it was he wanted but he did know that he wanted to look good without spending a ton of money. The last store we tried was Kohl's and there he found exactly what he was looking for. He found the Croft & Barrow tuxedo. It is sold as separate pieces which allowed him to choose pieces that were in his size and did not require taking anything to be altered. The jacket is a classic black 2 button coat. It does not have tails but it does have a notched satin lapel, covered buttons and 3 front slit pockets that are accented with a matching satin stripe. The matching pants are also black and they have a satin stripe that runs along the seam on the outside part of the leg. Both pieces are made of breathable wool and are comfortable and not scratchy. Since the holidays were right around the corner, Kohl's had a large selection of boxed shirt sets to match. He chose the classic white tuxedo shirt set which came with the shirt, bow tie, cummerbund, button covers and cuff links. The whole suit is constructed well, fits well and looks great on.
Now for the best part, the price. All of the pieces were on sale for what amount to be half off. His mother has a Kohl's card and is also a senior so he took her with him to purchase it on the next senior day which got him additional money off the sale price. They were also doing Kohl's extra bucks that day so he got $25.00 back in free Kohl's money as well which went towards the purchase of a pair of shoes he was looking at. Bottom line is he got the whole tux and a pair of new shoes for under $150.00.
He wore the tux with pride the night of the awards gala. His boss told him several time how nice he looked and through out the night people came up to him and told him that we were the best dressed couple there. He was was really happy with his purchase and glad Kohl's had exactly what he was looking for and at a great price too.
